Contrasts Chamber Ensemble

The addition of a second violin to our Popular Classical Quartet creates the possibility to perform the great clarinet quintets of Mozart, Brahms and Weber.

This is also the format for our very popular programme 'A Night in Vienna'.

The first half consists of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik & Clarinet Quintet. The second half is a selection of the lighter 19th century waltzes and polkas from 'The Strauss Family' and their contemporaries.

Peter Collins dedicated a large chamber song cycle 'Le Voyage', based on poems by Baudelaire, to Contrasts.

On their first foreign tour, Contrasts appeared on German television, and gave the international premiere of David Pedley's 'Partita', specially commissioned for the occasion.
